Another Unexpected Christmas: Make The Most Of The Holiday Season With DIDIER DUBOT

by DIDIER DUBOT . on Dec 13, 2021

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, yet it still doesn’t feel like it used to. Dealing with the continuation of the Covid-19 pandemic has made 2021 another challenging year. As we prepare for our second Christmas in less than ideal circumstances, we may feel lost or unenthusiastic. Life has changed and so have our expectations. We may not be able to celebrate Christmas like we always have, despite the easing of restrictions across the globe. Make the most of the holiday season this year by focusing on the little joys and decadent treasures of life. Didier Dubot is here to show you how!

Indulge In At-Home Festivities

Your city’s annual Christmas market or festival may be postponed for yet another year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t create your own winter wonderland at home. Recreate the buzz of a festive city by putting in some extra effort chez vous. Invest in some extra decor, buy all the Christmas treats, and spend as much quality time with loved ones as possible (virtual meetups included!). Going all out will enhance the festive spirit within your walls.

If celebrating at home is new to you or you usually keep things small, look to other cultures for inspiration! You can fill your month with wonderful traditions that are guaranteed to lift your spirits.

  • Advent is a lovely Swedish tradition that kicks off the season. Families and friends gather four Sundays before Christmas to indulge in seasonal treats like mulled wine, saffron buns, marzipan, and gingerbread cookies. The countdown officially begins by lighting the first of four candles; the other three candles are lit on the remaining Sundays before Christmas.
  • The city of San Fernando in the Philippines is home to the Giant Lantern Festival, which is exactly what it sounds like. Dazzling and vibrant lanterns illuminate the city from mid-December to beginning of January. Host your own version by creating ornate DIY paper lanterns for your house. Lighting up a homemade lantern will feel more satisfying than simply flicking a button on a string of store-bought lights.
  • If you want an excuse to prolong the season, look no further than Russia or Italy. Russians feast on extravagant meals and exchange gifts on New Year’s, when children are visited by Father Frost. Italians enjoy sweet treats on January 5th, after children are gifted candy and presents by a friendly witch named Belfana.

Enjoy The Downtime

The holiday season is the perfect excuse to take some time off after a long and stressful year. 2021 may not be filled with holiday parties and events, but you can relax and unwind in other ways. Watch all of your favorite Christmas movies, curl up with a classic book by the fire, or have some extra self-care nights that feature seasonally scented candles. Those that prefer spending outdoors can enjoy the cool beauty of the season during crisp winter walks.

Whatever your preferred leisure activity is, enjoy it! This is the time of year when you should never feel guilty about taking time for yourself or being unproductive. You’re recharging for the upcoming year.

Treat Your Loved Ones

You may not be able to see all of your family and friends this year, but you can still treat them! This year we urge you to think of quality over quantity when it comes to gifts. Rather than choosing several small items, go for one special gift that your loved one will cherish for years to come. These standout gifts will show them just how much you care and value their companionship.

Jewelry will forever be a beautiful and meaningful gift. Whether you’re shopping for a friend, family member, or significant other, gifting someone a piece of jewelry means giving them a lasting token of your affection. They will think of you every time they wear it, which will likely be often. The right styles can easily become everyday pieces that become an essential part of their signature style.

DIDIER DUBOT’s selection of demi-fine jewelry is made from high quality materials such as 14K gold, 925 sterling silver, genuine pearls, and precious gemstones. Our diverse selection covers every aesthetic and occasion, from showstopping earrings to dainty pendants and minimal rings.

Find the ideal Christmas gift for everyone on your list now!
